From 16 March to 3 November, the Wachau bus line WL6 runs daily from the Melk station forecourt to Schallaburg Castle and back.

Directions to Schallaburg by car
There is plenty of parking space for coaches and cars.
Directions to Schallaburg by foot or bicycle
Those of you who are light on their feet might want to walk to Schallaburg Castle on signposted footpaths: approx. 2.5 hrs from Melk Station; approx. 1 hr from Loosdorf Station
It’s a 15-minute ride from the Danube Cycle Path to Schallaburg Castle. There is a bicycle rack at the reception centre.
Accessibility
Schallaburg Castle is a historical building. Nonetheless the exhibition area, castle garden, restaurant, and toilets are fully accessible for disabled visitors.
Parking
Parking spaces for disabled are within easy reach (parking area 2).
Disabled visitors can be driven by car directly to the ticket office and can be picked up from there again. However, the car can‘t be parked at the ticket office during the visit.
Alternately, there is a shuttle service from the parking area to the ticket office for disabled visitors. The shuttle service can be requested at +43 (0)2754 / 6317-0
Lifts
All levels of Schallaburg Castle are fully accessible (lift: width 90 cm, depth 140 cm).
Wheelchairs
Two wheelchairs are available free of charge, although you will be asked at the reception to deposit an ID.
